Some Pittsburgh-area college students will be part of a performance of a lifetime Thursday, taking part in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with the West Virginia University marching band. The students traveled nearly 400 miles from the Mountain State of West Virginia to the Big Apple.

Some Pittsburgh-area college students are taking part of a performance of a lifetime on Thursday, marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with West Virginia University.

The Carolina Band, aka the Mighty Sound of the Southeast, will play the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and host a meet-up in NYC's Mason Jar bar on Nov. 28

On most weekday nights, the ticking of a metronome rings out across the University of Massachusetts Amherst athletic fields, followed by the music of the “Power and Class of New England,” the UMass Amherst Minutemen Marching Band.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst marching band is headed to New York this week to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The UMass band is one of 11 chosen for the huge televised event.

Although the band and baton twirlers marched in the parade in 2013, this year, the 21-member dance team will join them on Thanksgiving Day in New York City.
