It took less than an hour of being in office for Missouri’s new Gov. Mike Kehoe to issue some new laws on undocumented immigration.

Task forces to arrest people with outstanding warrants and immigration enforcement training for the Missouri State Highway Patrol are among the actions Gov. Mike Kehoe ordered Monday as part of a program to combat crime in Missouri.

According to the Pew Research Center, there are about 70,000 undocumented immigrants in Missouri. However, the state has no way of collecting accurate numbers. Several pieces of legislation have been introduced in the Missouri General Assembly that aims to make tracking the number of undocumented immigrants in the state easier.

Soon after being sworn in as governor, Kehoe signed executive orders requiring law enforcement to include the immigration status of individuals in arrest reports, and authorized the creation of a program called "Operation Relentless Pursuit.
