Hurricane Milton had a quick, intense life over the past few days as it roared across the Gulf of Mexico and slammed into Florida late Wednesday.

Before the storm's landfall, Milton spawned multiple dangerous tornadoes that touched down throughout South-Central Florida.

Forecasters are urging people in Florida to make preparations or leave their homes today, as the National Hurricane Center confirmed that Milton is a "catastrophic Category 5 hurricane" and will hit Florida later today or early tomorrow as a major storm.
