A North Carolina judge has rejected Republicans’ request to bar students and school employees from using digital identification cards to vote. Wake Superior Court Judge Keith Gregory denied on Thursday the temporary restraining order from the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the North Carolina Republican Party,

The Republican Party has sued North Carolina’s elections board to block students and employees at the state’s flagship public university from showing a digital identification to comply with a photo ID law.

Over 45,000 students and faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will be able to use their digital university ID to vote after a judge ruled that state law doesn't specify physical ID must be used.
