Boosted in part by two pivotal Arizona races, Republicans have won a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, helping to cement total GOP control over the federal government’s elected bodies.

Republican David Schweikert won reelection in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, according to AP. Schweikert defeated Democrat Amish Shah, a former representative in the state legislature. Schweikert has held a seat in the US House of Representatives since 2011.
