The US Department of Defense (DoD) has expanded its Replicator initiative by adding two new types of uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) and more networking software.

The Pentagon announced on Wednesday that it will add two new types of drones and more networking software to its ambitious Replicator initiative aimed at rapidly putting thousands of drones in the hands of the military.

The announcement marks the most specific details the Defense Department has released about its secretive, fast-track drone effort.

This is just the second time the U.S. has provided specifics on what it’s buying in its move to field thousands of cheap, smart and autonomous attack drones.
