The NHL is just about halfway through its season, and with that, there have been plenty of impressive first-year players. The Calder Trophy, given to the best rookie, should be a tight race between several candidates.

Canadiens defenceman Lane Hutson is having a very impressive rookie season in the NHL. After picking up three assists in Tuesday’s 5-3 road win over the Utah Hockey Club, the 22-year-old Hutson was leading all NHL rookies in scoring with 3-32-35 totals in in 43 games.

Corey Pronman of The Athletic recently released a list of the top under-23-year-old players, and it has set off a backlash online. His list seems to be,

DALLAS -- Jakub Dobes made 32 saves for the Montreal Canadiens, who scored three straight goals to defeat the Dallas Stars 3-1 at American Airlines Center on Thursday. The 23-year-old goalie has allowed four goals while winning his first four NHL starts, including a 34-save shutout in his debut against the Florida Panthers on Dec. 28.
