SAN FRANCISCO — An apparent fatal stabbing outside a San Francisco BART station early Wednesday closed down the system during the morning commute, officials said. Media reports indicated that San Francisco police were investigating after the stabbing outside the Embarcadero station. Inquiries to the department were not returned immediately.

A person was killed on Market Street outside the Embarcadero BART station in Wednesday morning and the search for the suspect caused significant delays on the BART system.

A suspect accused of fatally stabbing someone near the Embarcadero BART station this month was arrested on Sunday, the San Francisco Police Department said. Johnathon Calvin Wright, 36, was arrested by BART police,

BART experienced delays in all directions Wednesday morning following a fatal stabbing near the transit system’s Embarcadero Station in San Francisco.  San Francisco police said in a statement that officers responded to Market and Main streets downtown following reports that a person was bleeding.
