PM Modi and Joe Biden also had a brief interaction at June's G7 Summit in Italy. In August, the two leaders had a phone call in which they discussed various issues, including the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh and the subsequent attacks on that country's minority Hindus.

At the summit, PM Modi spoke about India’s work in inclusive development and its efforts to help the Global South. He said, “Over the last 10 years, we have lifted 250 million people out of poverty. Over 800 million people are being given food grains free of cost. 550 million people are benefiting from the world’s biggest health insurance scheme.”
