Sport Resolutions UK heard the case in a three-day hearing, with a verdict delivered five days later, issuing him with a 12-year ban from WSA events. That punishment was backdated to the beginning of his suspension on 12 October 2012, running through to his 50th birthday on 12 October 2024. He was also ordered to pay £40,000 in costs.

With his 12-year ban coming to an end on October 12th, 2024, former snooker world number five Stephen Lee has already discussed the possibility of returning to competitive action.

Lee avoided a lifetime ban and was instead suspended for 12 years, having failed to clear his name on appeal. That suspension is now over but Lee currently owes the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) £125,000 in legal fees, which must be repaid before the association decides whether he would be allowed to re-join.
