Republicans have taken the lead over Democrats in Nevada’s voter registration numbers, marking the first time in nearly 20 years the GOP has outnumbered Democrats in the battleground state. The latest numbers come as Republicans are celebrating President Trump’s victory and hoping for future success in 2026 races,

The last time Nevada had more Republicans than Democrats was 2007, the year before Barack Obama won the state’s electoral votes, ushering in two decades of Nevadans picking a Democrat for president. That is, until Republicans began chipping away at Democrats’ lead, culminating with Donald Trump’s victory in November.

Nevada Republicans said Monday they have passed Democrats in voter registration in the state for the first time since 2007.

The change marks an important symbolic victory for the Nevada GOP, less than three months after winning a presidential election in the Silver State for the first time since 2004.
