Midway through the frame, Zadorov delivered a hard hit from behind on Schaefer behind the Bruins’ net. The collision triggered a scrum, with veteran Islanders Anders Lee, Anthony Duclair and Jean-Gabriel Pageau stepping in to confront Zadorov.

Schaefer had two goals in a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Schaefer, who turned 18 on Sept. 5, became the youngest defenseman in NHL history with a multigoal game, moving in front of Hall of Famer Bobby Orr (18 years, 248 days on Nov. 23, 1966).

To honor and celebrate active-duty service members, veterans, and their families, the New York Islanders are hosting Military Appreciation Night as they take on the Minnesota Wild at UBS Arena on Friday. Approximately 200 tickets are being distributed to local military members and their families via a donation underwritten by the Islanders team.

The NHL has confirmed that the New York Islanders will host the 2027 NHL All-Star weekend festivities at UBS Arena from Feb. 5-7. Elmont, New York was originally announced as the host for 2026, with the league planning to move forward with the weekend prior to the Winter Olympics.

After losing their final three games of October, the Islanders earned a shootout win over Springfield to begin November. Next up is Lehigh Valley at home Wednesday.
