As the countdown to the second Trump presidency begins, Britain is in the enviable position of having a politician who can rightly claim to be a personal friend of The Donald.Our European neighbours must have looked on enviously as Mr Trump gave a shout-out to the MP at his eve-of-election rally and invited him to his Mar-a-Lago home to celebrate victory.

A British minister said on Sunday that the government is unlikely to ask the Reform party leader Nigel Farage to act as an intermediary to deal with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

Nigel Farage has said he could be “useful as an interlocutor” between the Labour Government and Donald Trump. The Reform UK leader said he has “a great relationship” with the US president-elect and knows people he believes will be in Mr Trump’s administration for “quite a long time”.

The Reform UK leader – a close ally of Mr Trump and the only UK politician who was at his Palm Beach home on election night - described Mr Trump as a “pro-British American president”. He claimed the Republican politician would give the UK “potentially huge opportunities if we can overcome the difficulties that the whole of the cabinet have been rude about him”.

Nigel Farage says the Prime Minister has the chance to save Britain from tariffs and strike a historic trade deal with the United States.
