Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson has died at 64 years old. The gospel singer, who was two years younger than Prince, passed away on the morning of Monday, November 4, her family told The Minnesota Star Tribune.

Tyka Nelson, a songwriter, musician and sister of the late "Purple Rain" singer, died Nov. 4 in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, her son announced.

Out from under an imposing shadow, she recorded four albums as a singer and had two R&B hits before turning her focus to her brother’s legacy.
