Western New York is grappling with a severe lake effect snowstorm that has dumped multiple feet of snow in some areas, causing widespread travel disruptions, including the closure of a major stretch of the New York State Thruway.

Residents in northwest Pennsylvania woke to heavy snow and near-whiteout conditions on Friday, November 29, as thick bands of lake-effect snow swept across the region.This footage was provided by Chris Jones who said he filmed it near his home in Wesleyville, just outside Erie, on Friday morning.A lake-effect snow warning was in effect for the region until Saturday morning.
