BENGALURU (Reuters) - India's NSE Nifty 50 and S&P BSE Sensex are trailing only Wall Street's Nasdaq and S&P 500 as top-performing indexes this year, with analysts expecting the rally to extend into 2025.

Domestic stock market benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty, hit fresh record highs on Friday amid positive investor sentiments following a 50 basis points cut by the US Federal Reserve. In the last two days, the Sensex has gained nearly 1600 points and Nifty has added 413 points.

The BSE Sensex fell nearly 900 points to high a low of 81,304.46. It was later trading at 81,439.38, down 761.78 points or 0.93 per cent. The NSE Nifty50 slipped below the 24,900 mark briefly.

In what is seen as a watershed moment, the US Federal Reserve slashed short-term borrowing costs on Wednesday by half percentage point.
