WWE SmackDown highlighted the young title reign of Tiffany Stratton and gave the San Diego crowd a notable Rey Mysterio match.

Tiffany Stratton defeated Bayley in the main event on Friday Night SmackDown to successfully defend her WWE Women's Championship.

Triple H announced that WWE Friday Night SmackDown on the USA Network will return to a two-hour format later this year.

– Saxton interviewed Tiffany Stratton backstage. Saxton said Bayley was extremely driven to win the WWE Women’s Championship. Tiffy said Bayley has had a career of big moments, but Tiffy has had big moments, too. In fact, Tiffy said, she is a Big Moment and now it’s Tiffy Time. Tiffy said toodles and left Saxton standing in the hallway.

However, shortly after the transition to three hours, WWE CCO Triple H announced that "SmackDown" would be returning to a two-hour program, but did not confirm when the change would take place. Dave Meltzer has now revealed in the "Wrestling Observer Newsletter" when "SmackDown" is expected to return to its original runtime,

Stratton's first title defense comes against one of the most decorated women's champions in WWE history. Solo Sikoa is also set to return after losing to Roman Reigns in Tribal Combat on Jan. 6. Sikoa can no longer claim to be Tribal Chief but his New Bloodline is still terrorizing SmackDown.
