Warcraft 1 and 2 are being removed from the DRM-free GOG.com at the behest of Blizzard, for sadly obvious reasons.

GOG have updated their preservation policies in response to Blizzard pulling the original Warcraft I & II from sale later this month.

Blizzard has made another consumer-unfriendly move, but GOG has stepped in to keep Warcraft and Warcraft II available for owners in a less-expensive form.

Blizzard is delisting Warcraft I and II from GOG, the only PC gaming storefront the real-time strategy classics were available on outside of the company’s own Battle.net launcher. The move comes after the recent launch of its own expensive and lackluster remasters of the two games,

GOG has vowed to preserve Warcraft 1 and 2 even though they're set to be delisted from its store on 13th December, 2024.

In light of Blizzard’s plan to delist Warcraft 1 and 2 from GOG, it added: “We want to reveal a new feature to our recently announced Preservation Program. Once a game joins the Program, we pledge to maintain its compatibility even if it gets delisted from the store.

Come later this month, GOG will stop selling the first two entries in Blizzard’s seminal Warcraft real-time strategy game series. On December 13, the marketplace will delist Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II: Battle.

GOG will be delisting Warcraft 1 and 2 from their store following a request from Blizzard, but promise to offer continued support.

The digital distribution platform believes in maintaining and preserving classic titles for today's audiences.

Two classic Blizzard Entertainment games will be removed from the GOG platform on Dec. 13: Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft 2. GOG, which is a distribution platform known for selling DRM-free games,
