CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were rescued and taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a building fire on the West Side. The smoke from the fire could be seen for miles as firefighters battled flames shortly after the blaze erupted at the abandoned building.

An ambulance was headed west on 35th Street with its lights and sirens activated, when it collided with an SUV that was headed north on Leavitt Street.
