The North Carolina Department of Transportation said a mudslide shut down I-40 just outside of Asheville Friday afternoon. On the North Carolina side of I-40, NCDOT said both eastbound and westbound of I-40 is shut down at mile marker 15.

The Cocke County Emergency Management Agency shared that evacuations are expected for those affected by flooding along the Pigeon and French Broad Rivers.

High waters from both the Pigeon and French Broad rivers closed several roads and led to evacuations and water rescues in East Tennessee.
