It's been earthquake season across the United States in recent weeks. Over the past week or so, we've seen a significant earthquake hit Northern California, another hitting Alaska and seven different ones hitting the Mid-South region of the United States,

The quake briefly prompted a tsunami alert for parts of Vanuatu, according to the U.S. Tsunami Warning System, which is part of the National Weather Service. As of 2:14 p.m. local time, U.S. officials said the threat had passed.
