Currently awaiting retrial on sex crimes charges , Weinstein's attorney, Imran Ansari, issued a statement on his client's worsening health, pointing at alleged inadequate care administered during his stint in the infirmary at Rikers Island jail complex following a leukemia diagnosis.

In a statement, Weinstein's lawyer accused the New York City jail system of "medical malpractice" and violating the producer's "constitutional rights."

Harvey Weinstein has been rushed to hospital after receiving “alarming” blood test results, his lawyer said. The disgraced film producer, 72, has previously announced that he has been diagnosed with leukemia.
