Zohran Mamdani is following in the footsteps of another mayor of a global city with an outsize reputation for a diverse economic and cultural life.

New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani on Wednesday announced an all-female team of co-chairs for his transition team, including former Federal Trade Commission chair Lina Khan.

After Zohran Mamdani successfully completed his historic bid for mayor of the country's largest city on Tuesday night, he was joined onstage by his wife Rama Duwaji. In his speech, Mamdani thanked Duwaji, saying, "There is no one I would rather have by my side in this moment and in every moment."

When he takes office on Jan. 1, Mr. Mamdani will seek to move quickly to implement his affordability plans and respond to threats from President Trump.
