Portal madness has arrived yet again for college sports and basketball is taking center stage this spring. Both Mississippi State basketball teams are coming off of another NCAA Tournament berth with Chris Jans’ team earning a third trip to the Big Dance in as many years while Sam Purcell led State to a second NCAA berth.

Seemingly each time you look up another college basketball player is entering the transfer portal and on Wednesday, that trend hit Mississippi State. Forward KeShawn Murphy, who had a bit of a breakout season in 2024-25,

Clary plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens, a source told the Clarion Ledger. He transferred from Penn State where he averaged 16.7 points per game. The junior started four games but suffered a season-ending lower-leg injury seven games into the season.
