Liverpool FC player Diogo Jota and his brother died in a car accident in Spain in what the Premier League-winning club is calling an "unimaginable loss."

Liverpool soccer star Diogo Jota has died in a car crash at the age of 28, according to reports. According to the BBC and Sky News, citing Spanish news agency EFE, the Portuguese sportsman’s 26-year-old brother, Andre Silva, also died in the accident. The incident reportedly took place in the Spanish province of Zamora.

As a child Diogo Jota idolized Cristiano Ronaldo. In a career that took him to soccer stardom, he would go on to call the Portugal great a teammate and win some of the sport’s biggest trophies.
