Nov. 13 (UPI) --President-elect Donald Trump has named Rep. Mike Waltz of Florida as his national security advisor, stating the first Green Beret to be elected to Congress will be "a tremendous champion of our pursuit of Peace through Strength."

President-elect Trump has selected Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) as his next national security advisor, picking a retired Army Green Beret with years of experience on defense and foreign policy.

Donald Trump on Tuesday confirmed his pick of Mike Waltz, a former US special forces officer and a noted foreign policy hawk, for the influential role of national security advisor.In a statement, Trump described Waltz as "a strong champion of my America First Foreign Policy agenda.
