Interim coach Tim Brewster, a longtime assistant at various levels, became the Niners’ associate head coach before this season under Biff Poggi, who was fired Monday by athletic director Mike Hill — before the conclusion of his second year at the helm.

Charlotte has fired coach Biff Poggi and has named tight ends coach/associate head coach Tim Brewster the interim coach.

Charlotte coach Biff Poggi has been fired after going 6-16 in two seasons. Charlotte lost 59-24 to South Florida on Saturday, its fourth loss by 30 or more points this season.
