A winter storm swept across the eastern US and Canada, bringing heavy snow and freezing temperatures to the Great Lakes, Midwest, and Northern Plains. Officials in New York and Pennsylvania declared states of emergency as poor conditions disrupted travel across the region.

Lake effect snow is forecast to wallop the already snow-buried Great Lakes region, while much of the continental U.S. will experience below-freezing temperatures over the next few days.

The FOX Forecast Center expects some of the coldest air of the season to invade the US from Canada in the days after Thanksgiving and into the start of December.
