HDMI 1.4 doesn't come with a bandwidth increase (just features (such as higher resolutions given lower framerate etc.)) and displayport has around 70% more bandwidth than HDMI - but thats beside the point. Displayport is truly superior in every way, HDMI is just DVI and displayport is the next generation.

WEBJan 7, 2008 · I bought another Displayport cable (Cable Matters VESA Certified 8K DisplayPort Cable 1.4) and the problem completely went away for weeks but it has started to return and more frequently. DP is hooked up to a cheap Dell 4k 60hz monitor. HDMI is hooked up to 4k 120hz LG C1, which never has issue.

The main issue with most HDMI 2.0 TVs at the moment is HDCP 2.2 uses up too much bandwidth to do 4:4:4. So we need HDMI 2.0 but not HDCP 2.2.
