Artwork celebrating our 40th anniversary has gone on display at three South Tyneside Metro stations. The artwork was produced through a project delivered by The Cultural Spring, working with County Durham artist Laura Brenchley and a mix of local community groups. Rare colour footage of the Tyne and Wear Metro’s first year of operations has been unearthed on eBay. The video provides a snapshot of Metro in July of 1981, when the system was less than a year old and was still brand new. Watch here.
