9/11 Tribute in Light shines over New York City tonight. From some angles in Manhattan, the twin beams appear to merge into one—an illusion that still takes your breath away. 🌌 Symbolism: Two powerful beams mark the space where the Twin Towers once stood, turning loss into light and absence into presence. 📅 History: First illuminated on March 11, 2002, just six months after the attacks, the tribute was originally temporary. The annual "Tribute of Light" tradition honors the almost 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks at the World Trade Center's Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001. Two pale blue beams reach 4 miles into the sky and, on a clear night, are visible within a 60-mile radius. The display will light up the sky from dusk on Sept. 11 to dawn on Sept. 12. | ABC7 News
