The Japan Meteorological Agency's (JMA) Himawari-8 satellite captured this rapid scan imagery of what is now Typhoon Lionrock in the western Pacific Ocean south of Japan on August 24, 2016. This full-disk infrared imagery from the Japan Meteorological Agency's Himawari-8 satellite shows both Typhoon Sarika (left) and Typhoon Haima (right) in the Northwest Pacific Ocean over a 24-hours period from about 19:00 UTC on October 16, 2016, to 18:30 on October 17.) According to information from the Joint Typhoon warning Center, Typhoon Sarika is located approximately 409 miles east-southeast of Hanoi, Vietnam, and has tracked northwestward at 9 miles per hour (mph) over the past six hours.
